Imogen - Dog Trainer
Hi, I’m Imogen – the brains behind Be More Monty Dog Training.
Be More Monty Dog Training was officially founded in September 2024, but it was many years in the making - a culmination of lifelong love, personal growth, and a very special dog.
My passion for dogs started early. My parents still tell stories of me, barely walking, crawling towards every family dog I could find. So, when it was revealed we’d be getting a puppy, it was a dream come true. Living in the Yorkshire countryside meant that lockdown was filled with daily walks, made even better with a bouncy labradoodle puppy at my side - Monty.
Dogs quickly became more than just a hobby; they became my safe space, especially as I navigated the challenges of mental health and anxiety. It was during that time my parents would gently remind me to “be more like Monty” - calm, joyful, and always ready to find fun in the little things. Over time, “Be More Monty” became a family mantra… and eventually, it lead to something so much bigger.
As Monty began to struggle with excitement reactivity, we threw ourselves into training. The journey was intense, emotional, and incredibly rewarding - and through it all, the idea for Be More Monty Dog Training took root and grew.
Now, that name stands for everything I believe in:
- Training that’s relationship-led and balanced.
- Support that’s grounded in empathy.
- Work that’s professional, passionate, with just the right amount of fun.
I’m a firm believer that great training starts with a strong relationship - between dog and owner, and between you and your trainer. Whether it’s a 1:1 session, a day train, or a group class, my goal is always the same: to help you and your dog build trust, confidence, and joy in the journey together.

Meet Monty - the heart behind Be More Monty Dog Training.
Also known as Monty Doodle, Doodle Dog, Fluff Butt, Cobweb Dog… the list goes on.
Monty is my heart dog - the dog of a lifetime, my absolute world. Without him, Be More Monty Dog Training simply wouldn’t exist. He’s the reason it all began.
A working-line F1 Labradoodle with a strong Labrador influence, Monty is the ultimate training partner. He lives to work, loves to learn, and has an obsession with anything vaguely resembling a ball. His eagerness to please is second to none, and he brings passion and purpose to everything he does.
Monty has taught me more than I ever thought possible. Once an excitement-reactive pup, he’s come such a long way - and I couldn’t be prouder. These days, he takes his role as head stooge dog very seriously, supporting 1:1 sessions, day trains, and our group and urban classes with a calm confidence (and the occasional dramatic sigh).
He’s also the king of funny faces in photos and our resident flappometers - his ears - tell us exactly how windy it is mid-walk! Monty’s personality is larger than life. He’s endlessly sociable, endlessly silly, and always the first to squeeze himself into the tiniest, most ridiculous spaces just to make you laugh.
Monty isn’t just a dog. He’s the heart and soul of this journey - and a daily reminder to Be More Monty.
